Answer #1

45.a. Order:80mg bolus

Available:40mg/vial

To get the number of vial divide 80mg by 40mg=2 vial

Ans:2 vial

b.Available:80mg=100ml NS

Given 8mg/hr

To calculate the ml to be transfused

As 80mg=100ml

Then 8mg=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=100×8÷80

=800÷80

=10ml

Ans:10ml/hr

46.Given

Order:KCL

Available:20mEQ in 250ml NS

Dose: 40mEq

When 20mEQ=250ml

Then 40mEQ=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=250×40÷20

=10000÷20

=500ml

The patient is having peripheral line and the maximum infusion rate is 10mEq/hr

In 1 he =10mEq

Then ??he=40mEq

Cross multiply and divide

=40×1÷10

=40÷10

=4

Ans.a.The whole ordered dose will run for 4 hours

b.As 40mEq=500ml will run for 4 hour

Flow rate(in ml/hr)=Total volume ×drop factor ÷Time ×60

=500×15÷1×60

=500÷4

=125ml/hr

Flow rate(in gtt/min)=Volume÷minutes ×drop factor

Here:volume =125ml,drop factor:15 (standard)

=125÷60×15

=2.08×15

=31.2 or 31gtt/min

Ans To be unused at 125ml /hr at 31 drops /min
