Directions: Please answer all questions to the best of your abilities, you may use any help or resources you want (not each other or any other human resource). You may use lecture notes, text books, internet etc., but if you do you must cite the source, Example, found this information in Egan’s chapter 49, pages 112-114.
Please use a separate Sheets to answer all of the questions, please either type out the answers (preferred) or write out the answers neatly, if I can’t read it you should type it out. Please note this assignment is worth 15pts, in order to get full points, answers should be complete.
Points will be subtracted for not following directions.
Identify the following modes:    
    1.All breaths are spontaneous; a baseline elevating pressure is set, as well as a pressure to augment spontaneous tidal volumes.
2.All breaths are volume cycled; there are a minimum number of time-triggered breaths and the patient may trigger any number of breaths above the preset respiratory rate.  Patient triggered breaths are synchronized in with time triggered breaths.
3.All breaths are pressure cycled and time triggered.  The patient cannot trigger any breaths.
4.All breaths are pressure cycled; there is a minimum number of time-triggered breaths and the patient may trigger any number of breaths above the preset respiratory rate.  Breath stacking is likely due to the lack of synchronization of patient triggered breaths with time triggered breaths.
5. All breaths are volume cycled and time triggered.  The patient cannot trigger any breaths.

3.All breaths are pressure cycled and time triggered. The patient cannot trigger any breaths. - Assisted controlled ventilation .

4.All breaths are pressure cycled; there is a minimum number of time-triggered breaths and the patient may trigger any number of breaths above the preset respiratory rate. Breath stacking is likely due to the lack of synchronization of patient triggered breaths with time triggered breaths. - pressure controlled ventilation .
