How do you think modern art would look had the enlightenment never took place and mankind stayed in their old ways of thinking?
If mankind stayed on their old ways of thinking more than the benefits there would be a greater lagging in the progress done to self and society as a whole. It should not have led to individuality,coming up with new ideas and innovations in simple freedom in doing what one desires to do.Womens would definitely been restricted inside house , minority facing inequality ,violence due to lack of knowledge, no effective leadership strategy, limitations in all task ,dictatorship should be at the top and making mankind as a labour under it.Hence the enlightenment done has given the specific outlook for modern art.
