Answer #1

Caltrate is used as the calcium supplement, which is required to treat the osteoporosis, muscle diseases as well a fulfill the pregnancy requirement. As per the effect on nutrition, it supports the nutritional need of those persons who fail to take an ample calcium-rich diet. But if taken in excess can cause loss of appetite, dry mouth, and abdominal pain.  Thus proved to be an effective nutritional supplement. It is eliminated by renal excretion but most of this is reabsorbed by the renal tubules. The unabsorbed amount of calcium is precipitated in the ilium. Caltrate upset the GI tract and cause constipation, dyspepsia and abdominal pain.
