Answer: Language removes the barrier between patient and healthcare professionals. Communication plays major role in treating and providing care to the patient. But there could be many difficulties that could arise due to language barrier exists between nurse and patient are:

  • If there will be language barrier, patient will not be able to explain his problem clearly. This will result in to poor subjective data collection.
  • Healthcare professionals won't be able to provide proper care of plan.
  • There will lack of co ordination between patient and nurse.
  • Empathy and emotional support can not be provided.
  • Counselling will not be effective unless the patient or his family members can understand language.
