1. Role play

· A: the patient that I handled today was suffering from AIDS and this certainly concerned me about the transmission of the disease.

· B: what made you so concerned about the situation?

· A: the ethical issue of transmission of the disease and impact of not maintaining proper therapeutic relationship with the patient concern me the most.

· B: As per the ethical code of conduct you must maintain your own safety while treating the patient irrespective of his health condition. HIV-AIDS does not spread from normal touch so you can certainly be gentle with him without distracting your therapeutic relationship.

2. Role play 2.

· A: I need to perform an in-depth diabetic education intervention with a patient with very unhygienic health conditions. This concern me about my efficiency and raise the ethical issue of maintain patient dignity and values.

· B: you must not harm the values and beliefs of the patient but you should politely inform him about the importance of being hygienic. This would help him be safe and healthier about his condition.

· A: but I am concerned that his unhygienic conditions may influence my profession.

· B: no, you must uphold the principles of this profession and educate the patient with complete dignity and respect. The medical assisting creed of the AAMA inform a medical professional to render greater service and be more effective in his profession.

· A: I have been informed today that an inmate of the county prison is scheduled for an appointment today. I am afraid that his status may impact my reaction toward him.

· B: I believe that it is a serious issue but the medical ethics treats every person with equal interest and compassion. A good medical professional must have effective forbearance to stress as this can help him bear aggressive patients. The ethics influence a physician to be fair and passionate toward their patients without their past activities. You must not get diverted by his activities and treat him with equity and politeness.

4. Role play 4:

· A: I need to gather insurance information from a 20 years old single mother who already have 2 children and is pregnant with the third one. I am in an ethical dilemma of holding enough empathy for the lady.

· B: empathy is a major ethical principle that must be obliged by every medical professional. The lady is already having a hard time and being rude with her can disturb her mentally. The ethics suggest a medical professional be polite and well behaved while handling such patients.
