Let’s discuss the categories that organisms can be grouped in based on their nutritional requirements. Find one microorganism, either a prokaryote or eukaryote, and describe the environment in which it lives. (Does it live underwater? On skin? In soil? Give as many details as possible!) To complete your initial post, you will then use the vocabulary we discussed to classify it based on its nutritional needs and environmental requirements. (Is it a halophile? A chemoheterotroph? Use as many terms as you can!)

Answer #1

Phototrophs:organisms which use light as nutrition.

Heterotrophs:organisms which use organic form of carbon as nutritional source.

Major nutritional status of prokaryotes are;

Photoautotrophs:they use light as energy source and co2 as carbon source. Ex-cyanobacteria.

Photoheterotrophs:these use light as energy source and organic compound as carbon source. Ex-some purple and green bacteria.

Lithotrophs:these use inorganic compounds as energy sources and co2 as carbon source.

Chemoheterotrophs:these use organic compounds as energy sources and carbon source.

Nutritional status of eukaryotes:

Most af these will be either photoautotrophic (ex:plants) or heterotrophic (ex:animal, fungi, protozoa).

Let's briefly disscuss environment in which amoeba thrive

Amoeba:Amoeba is a unicellular eukaryotic organism. It is a cosmopolitan because it can live in freshwater, estuarine environment, soil. They distributed in rhizosperic zone and surrounding bulk soil. They produce organic shell on which other components can be adhered. Amoeba can produce population of 80-120 million per square mt. These microbes spread by wind and water currents.

Amoeba is holozoic which is type of Heterotrophic organisms.

INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
