9. According to the question the man is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for pancreatic cancer. The patient has a chief complaint of nosebleed with low neutrophil count.
a) The client exhibits nosebleed and low neutrophil count after receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatment for pancreatic cancer.
The client has nosebleed due to decreased number of platelets. A low platelet count is known as thrombocytopenia. Platelet cells help in formation of blood clot along with other coagulation factors and thus prevents excessive bleeding. A low platelet count increases the risk of bleeding and thus the patient experienced nosebleed.

chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatment for cancer aim to kill the rapidly dividing and growing cancer cells. In the process these therapies also affect the normal cells of our body and destroys them. Also chemotherapy and radiation affects the bone marrow and results in low production of blood cells. This results in low blood cell count. This is the patient has low platelet and neutrophil count.
b) Some of the treatments that can be given for low neutrophil and platelet count are :

- transfusion of blood cells

- administration of growth factors that stimulates neutrophil and platelet synthesis

- rest

- Some lifestyle modification can also help. Ask the patient to eat healthy and well balanced diet. This help the body to synthesis more blood cells and build stronger immunity.
Perform health hygiene to prevent infections.
Avoid injuries, cuts and bruises to minimise bleeding.
Avoid alcohol and smoking.

- if the blood cell count drops to a very low level, stopping the radiation and chemotherapy for sometime is advisable.
