Although PTSD can be associated with any kind of trauma, it is an increasing problem for current and former soldiers. What do you think about the prevalence of PTSD among war veterans, especially the high incidence among those returning from combat zones? Is this a problem only for soldiers and their families? How do you feel it affects communities and society as a whole? What effect might increased incidence and awareness have on the nursing field? How can we apply the nursing process to better help patients with PTSD?

The prevalence of PTSD is quite a devastating number among the soldiers ranging about 4% to 17% from those returning from combat zones.The reason for this incidence is because of lack of adequate support after a war. Decrease in the positive reinforcement approach to these soldiers. This not only affects the soldiers but also their family because of their extreme fear,anger,isolation ,strange and strict avoidance ,negative thoughts, social isolation, etc creates an interrupted relationship and thus breaking the bond between family members.

It can affect the community and society as a whole by their way of hypervigilance, violence behavior in order to cope up certain situations.

The effect of isolation, violence, decreased physical and mental health of the veterans have increased the incidence and and awareness among the nursing filed.

The nursing process can be best applied by planning care based on ther psychological reassurance and thus gaining physical health.
