Why is collaboration between the disciplines in a hospital so difficult at times? We can see such territoriality at times that seems silly. Different areas were arguing about who the patient belonged to rather than focusing on the patient. Please provide your thoughts.

Answer #1

The collaboration between disciples of healthcare is very important. It has been acheived through good interpersonal relationship between team members in a health care team. Health professionals work together coperatively and solve problems by taking good decisions. Sharing responsibility is very important. Patient centered approach is the key to deliver good care.sometimes the collaboration among health care professionals are difficult.

The indiciplinary situation affects patients. They did n't get proper care from any levels. Because from. Primary set up they should refer patient to top level hospital for more care. But they did nt deliver proper information about the patient. So the top level hospitals will not accept the patient and the patient will suffer.

For instance a primary health centre is reffering a patient with placenta previa. It is a gyanecological emergency and advanced hospitals only can deliver good care to serve mother and baby. But sometimes due ti improper information and mis behaviour of staff the patient will most of tge the times loss large amount of blood.

So it should be avoided through good communication and evidence based approach.

In this course, we, from time to time, talk about the use of so-called “targeted” anticancer therapies. These therapies are designed to target some specific aspect of the biology of the tumor that is different vs. normal, non-transformed cells. Such therapies, like farnesyltransferase inhibitors, Herceptin, etc. should theoretically speaking, provide the advantage of selectively neutralizing/killing tumors without adversely affecting non-cancerous cells in the body. This would, ideally, result in the elimination of cancer (i.e., effect a “cure”) with very few...

Unplanned hospital readmissions are a serious matter for patients and a quality and cost issue for the healthcare system of every country. For example, in the United States, during 2011, nearly 19 percent of Medicare patients were readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of their initial discharge, running up an additional $26 billion in healthcare costs. Hospitals are seeking more effective ways to identify patients at high risk of readmission—especially now that Medicare has begun reducing payments to hospitals...
