Ethics

              Ethics is a system of moral principles. They affect how people make decisions and lead their lives. Ethics is concerned with what is good for individuals and society and is also described as moral philosophy.

              Ethics is important to our lives for profoundly social reasons, as well as psychological reasons. Ethics is a central component of any happy, healthy, and mature life.

Here are seven key reasons why ethics is important:

1. Truth is the basis of relationship. True communication is the only possible long term basis for a relationship or community.

2. Identity and integrity

3. Justice, fairness, and reciprocity

4. Doing good spills over. It’s easy to do good if you do good.

5. Love is based on honesty and commitment.

6. Trust and relationships are based on emotional intelligence, which is based in character.

7. Ethical practice also involves forgiveness and conflict resolution. Those are critical aspects that are also important to bring to the table.

              Decision making is one of the most crucial and consequential facet of life. Even the most insubstantial looking choices can cause monumental transitions in one's life. Confident people are sure of their actions , they do what they want without caring about what others think of them. They do things that makes them happy, after all life is short and you should do what makes you happy.

I would like to give an example.

A same person can be found right and wrong at the same time in different circumstances.

It's our own set of beliefs (guided and influenced by our family, peers, surrounding) which make us right or wrong.

        I think its all relative. Even Galileo was not spared and was called what not (anti human anti christ) and was harassed. That time everyone thought of him as wrong. But all that remained was his own belief which was guided by his discovery of earth being round and not flat.

Right is right until it proves itself of being right again and again with time. And wrong is wrong until it is able to prove itself right. Just go with your gut ,put your heart and soul and if it feels right, it will be.

· Setting Standards for Health and Social Services — Developing personcentred standards, based on evidence and best international practice, for health and social care .

· Regulation – Registering and inspecting designated centres.

· Monitoring Children’s Services — Monitoring and inspecting children’s social services.

· Monitoring Healthcare Quality and Safety — Monitoring the quality and safety of health services and investigating as necessary serious concerns about the health and welfare of people who use these services.

· Health Technology Assessment — Providing advice that enables the best outcome for people who use our health service and the best use of resources by evaluating the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of drugs, equipment, diagnostic techniques and health promotion and protection activities.

· Health Information — Advising on the efficient and secure collection and sharing of health information, setting standards, evaluating information resources and publishing information about the delivery and performance of Ireland’s health and social care and support services.

                                  The purpose of this guidance on autonomy is to help services to demonstrate how they show respect for human dignity, how they provide person-centred care, and how they ensure an informed consent process that values personal choice and decision-making. By ensuring that people’s autonomy is respected, service providers will improve the quality of care, safety and quality of life of people who use health and social care services.

Uses of Triangulation in assessment of Interaction and Interventions

                     Triangulation facilitates validation of data through cross verification from more than two sources. It tests the consistency of findings obtained through different instruments and increases the chance to control, or at least assess, some of the threats or multiple causes influencing our results.

· Triangulation’ is primarily used to describe the process of comparing concurrently collected qualitative findings.

· The term ‘integration’ has been used to describe the ‘interaction and conversation between’ findings from quantitative and qualitative components of a research programme , often conducted in series, to produce the proverbial ‘whole greater than the sum of its parts.

· Triangulation facilitates validation of data through cross verification from more than two sources.

· It helps the researchers to choose relevant data collection methods, minimises uncertainty reducing bias, minimising personal effects on the research findings.

· Triangulation allows to obtain a variety of information on the same issue

· Helps to achieve a higher degree of validity and reliability

· Helps to use the strength of each method to overcome the deficiencies of the other.

· Triangulation is not only useful, but also beneficial to the research and the research process.

                A culturally inclusive Therapy requires mutual respect, effective relationships, clear communication, explicit understandings about expectations and critical self-reflection. In an inclusive environment, people of all cultural orientations can: freely express who they are, their own opinions and points of view.

                Cultural diversity is commonly interpreted in relation to ethnicity. It will focus initially on the ethnic, religious and language dimensions of cultural diversity.

                 Inclusive practice to be the use of interactive strategies that acknowledge and value cultural diversity . Students and staff can benefit from culturally inclusive practice and experience diversity as a resource that enriches our teaching, learning, research, service provision and other work. An inclusive environment on campus contributes to making USC a safe, enjoyable and productive place for everyone in the university community, and can enhance our interactions with the wider community.

        Cultural inclusiveness addresses and supports the needs of people from diverse cultures, and values their unique contribution. It involves ongoing awareness raising, where negotiations and compromise may be necessary. It is important to regard cross-cultural interactions as an opportunity for all of us to learn.

            Respecting diversity entails more than tolerance. The term ‘tolerance’ implies that something must be endured, or ‘put up with’ — like the unpleasant side effects of a medication. When genuine acknowledgement, appreciation of, and interest in diversity is experienced, respectful relationships develop. Respectful relationships extend beyond individuals to include aspects of special significance to particular cultures.
