ANSWER.

* Nurse hold feedings with a respiratory rate greater than 60 because

           * Normal respiratory rate ranges between 12 to 18 breath per minute.

           * Respiratory rate greater than 60 (Tachypnea) indicate abnormal rapid

              breathing pattern of the patient.

           * If the nurse give feeding to this patient with tachypnea which will result in

             entering of food materials into the airway (Aspiration).

           * Airway become obstructed due to presence of food particles which leads to

             respiratory failure.

           * So the nurse should hold feeding if the patient show difficulty in breathing and

              increased respiratory rate during feeding.
