Theory means an organised way of understanding an event , , situation or behaviour etc . It is a set of interrelated concepts , propositions, which helps to predict a situation . The two components of theory are :-
Concepts
Principles
Theories are vital component because they guide and give meaning to what we see. When a researcher investigates and collects information through observation, the investigator needs a clear idea of what information is important to collect. Thus, valid theories are validated by research and are a sound basis for practical action.
In the same way theories are important in nursing also because the practical care what we provide to our patients are based on these theories only . Many researches and theories are the backbone of the nursing practice and based on these we provide evidence based care to our patients which helps in the early healing of the patients . These researches and theories should be an ongoing process in order to develop new practices which are more effective ,and affordable to the patients .
