Every profession has it own body of theory and practice and the base of each would be integrated with the other domain but influence or affect the present profession.
Borrowed non nursing theories plays a significant role as the nursing theories do. They enhance knowledge and advancements in many areas of the clinical practice. For example we learn theory of development in each individuals life that is were it has 8stages and given by the psychologist erickson. We would use this theory to identify the needs and development of an individual psychologically for example : a 10year old school going child is bought to the opd with complaints of thumb sucking and very moody. When the nurse starts to collect the problem expanded history the mother would tell that she did not take breast milk at all and only spoon feeding was done, when she was at 2years she started sucking thumb and I used to just hit her to stop it. By getting this information nurse would analyse that the infancy erickson development is the oral stage whereby the infants feels pleasure orally but once it's not been satisfied the child can go for psychological problems with physical symptoms. Besides it allows the nurse to relate the affecting factor in her care plan.
Thus borrowing the non nursing theory helps the nurses to provide comprehensive care to the patients.
