Gatekeeper refers to “individuals in a community who have face-to-face contact with large numbers of community members as part of their usual routine.” They may be trained to “identify persons who are suffering from STD's and at risk and refer them to screening/treatment or support services or counseling or health education as appropriate. We have to implement the program of reduction of STD rates from the school level itself.

The gatekeeper can implement the programs for the reduction of STD rates in schools have focused on training teachers and school staff, students

*In medical settings, primary care, and other departmental staff has been trained to be gatekeepers.

In the community level the social workers, LHV ets are taking the role as a gate keeper for the implementationof the program.

*The potential users and adopters of the programs are mainly teenagers and young adults, and adulthood, why because the prevalence of STD's is more among them. We have to encourage them to participate in the program implementation to reduce STD rates.
