Mission:

The primary objective of the mission is to return with Martian rock and soil samples of Mars to Earth for both chemical and physical analysis.

Interest:

One of the interesting thing about the mission is the proposed plan to bring the samples from mars to earth. According to NASA it could be done using a two launch architecture or a three launch architecture.

The two launch architecture would be carried out for a total span of four years, where the first launch is for the lander and the second launch is for the orbiter.

In case of the two launch architecture where the sample collection rover is launched separately, then the Mars orbiter is launched followed by the lander which will be carrying the Mars ascent Vehicle or MAV.
