Trace the pathway that a drop of blood will take in the fetal circulation traveling from the placenta to the aorta (trace the three shunts).
Placenta comprises 2 umbilical arteries and 1 umbilical vein. The umbilical vein which carries oxygenated blood reaches inferior vena cava . Ductus venosus joins the umbilical vein with IVC, thereby bypassing the portal circulation in the liver.
IVC carries oxygenated blood to the right atrium. From right atrium, the blood passes to left atrium through foramen ovale, the opening which present in between the right and left atrium. By foramen ovale, the blood bypasses the lung.
From left atrium, the blood reaches left ventricle. Then blood reaches aorta. The pulmonary artery joins the aorta via ductus arteriosus. This shunt helps to bypass the lung circulation.
From aorta, the blood distributes to different parts of the body. The deoxygenated blood is collected by umbilical arteries, which joins the umbilical cord and delivers the blood to placenta.

Name the 5 fetal structures and the main pathway of blood flow in fetal circulation. In your answer include the following: location of the fetal structures, functions of the fetal structures, and what postnatal structure each fetal structure becomes in the newborn circulation
Trace the path of a drop of blood traveling from the right ventricle to the spleen.
Trace a drop of blood traveling from the small intestine to the left ventricle of the heart.
Trace a drop of blood traveling from the left pinky toe to the right eye.
Trace a drop of blood from the aorta to the big toe, back to the heart, than to the small intestine.
13. Trace the path a drop of blood would take as it travels from a capillary bed in the left arm to a capillary bed in the right arm. Be sure to include the specific name of every structure it will pass through (you do not have to name the blood vessels of the arm, but tell me whether the blood is traveling to and from the heart through an artery or a vein). Fill in the blanks below by...
Trace a drop of blood from the right big toe to the dorsum of the left hand. Include the circulation through the heart and lungs.
