1. Home health care is defined as medical and non medical care provided to the patient by skilled nurses, physical therapists and other medical staff at home.
Home health care have its own benefits. It is inexpensive compared to hospital stay and comfortable. Patients with chronic conditions, disabilities, end stage diseases and geriatric population are usually provided by home health care.
Home health care includes medical care, wound dressing, functional assistance and support with daily activities.
My experience with community and home health services is very good. It is much easier to care for a patient at the comfort of home. It enhances are skills to make use of available resources at home and in community for medical purposes. It also helps to better relate with patients family and caregiver. This helps in better understanding of family’s needs and their emotional status.
Home health and community based services have become an integral part of healthcare sector. In such a scenario I definitely will like to have more exposure to home health and community based system.
