Answer #1

1)Gentamycin vial

Available 800mg=20ml

Then 140mg=??

=3.5ml (cross multiply and divide 140×20÷800)

3.5ml of medication has to be compounded in one IVBP Zbag

2)Given

Height :6'2"(187.9cm)

Weight :198Ibs(89.8kg)

Ordered dose mg

Frequency::Q8H ( 8 hourly)

Route:IV

To calculate the dose in mg/kg/day

As 140 mg to be administered for 89.9 kg as one time dose in a day three doses will be administered over 24 hours (140×3= 420mg/day to be administered )

when 140mg=89.9kg

Then 1kg=??

1.55mg (140×1÷89.9) or 1.5

So 1.5mg/kg/day to be administered
