Answer #1

ANSWER.

26.a) Calculation of amount (ml) of drug withdrawn from the vial.

            Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

               Desired dose (D) = 0.9 gm.

                  Convert gm to mg for calculation

                    So

                      Desired dose (D) = 0.9 * 1000

                                                   = 900 mg.

                      Dose in hand (H) = 250 mg.

                            Quantity (Q) = 1 ml.

       As per formula

        Amount (ml) of medicine withdrawn from the vial = D/ H *Q

                                                                                       = 900 / 250 * 1

                                                                                       = 3.6 ml.

b) Calculation of setting the pump(Rate) for infusion of medicine.

                Formula

                   Rate (ml/hr) = Volume(ml) / Time (hr)

                     Here

                        Volume = 50 ml.

                            Time = 45 min.

                 As per formula

                     Rate of infusion of medicine = 50 / 45

                                                                   = 1.1 ml/hr.
