There are many times that people try to help older people but just because they have perception of old people being babies, they tend to be disrespectful even while helping.

For eg.

When someone tries to take out old person to a party just to freshen them up and old person enjoys that party, people do comment like "Old man parties like a college kid". This is very hurtful as they don't want to be sympathized.

When people take old people out of food in a restaurant and when they ask you to pay bill by themselves, people respond in a way that "No sir let me do that, I earn" This is to help them by not spending their money but it also reminds them that they don't earn anymore and are dependent.
