Many of us have a problem getting enough Vitamin D in our diet. We know that this Sunshine Vitamin is made by our skin and that sunscreen blocks the synthesis of this vitamin. We also believe that excessive sun exposure contributes to skin cancer. Should people get sun exposure, should they use sunscreen? What is your recommendation.

Vitamin D is important for the body to keep the bones healthy by absorbing calcium from the food sources. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin which is present as a main source in the form of sunlight. It is believed that at least for half an hour early in the morning we have to sit under the sun, as the early rays of the sun are helpful for the body to absorb sufficient amount of vitamin D to become bones stronger. It is believed that newborn babies has to keep under early morning sun rays to develop a strong bones in them. But excessive exposure to the sunlight leads to skin cancer and other skin problems like tanning of the skin, marks, pimples, blemishes, black spots, oily skin and many other skin related problems will arise. To protect from the harmful effect of sun rays people use sunscreens to protect skin from becoming darker, tan free. Sunscreen is not the permanent method way of protecting from the sun light, it temporarily acts as a protective shield against sunlight especially in summer seasons. Hence, people should expose to sun light early in the mornings with fresh air around, and if people wants to go outside under sunlight they can use sunscreens as a protective layer from sun rays.
