Answer #1

Answer1.

The weight of the patient = 50 kg

Recommended daily dose = 5 mcg / kg/ day

if the recommendded dose is 5 mcg / kg / day ,

the dose needed to administer per day is

the weight of the patient X daily recommended dose

= 50 kg X 5 mcg / kg/day

= 250 mcg will be administered to the client daily .

so, 250 is the answer.

Answer 2.

carboplatin in ovarian cancer is recommended 360 mg/ m2

but the dose is reduced to 30 % in a patient with renal impairment.

the height of the patient is 6 ft 2 inches = 1.88 meters AND 188 CM

WEIGHT IS 180 LB = 81 KG

CALCULATING BODY SURFACE AREA

BSA (Mosteller)5 =height(cm) x weight(kg) 3600

= 2.06 m2

BSA is 2.06 m2

the dose is to be administered is 360 mg / m2 but as the patient's kidney is impaired so we will take 70 % of the drug

and 70 % of 360 is 252 after reducing 30 %

360 x 70 / 100= 252

= 252 ( AFTER REDUCING 30 % FROM 360) X BSA

= 252 X 2.06 m2

= 519.12

approx   519

answer is 519
