Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Calculation of amount (ml) of drug required.

Formula = Desired dose /Dose in hand *Quantity.

          Desired dose (D) = 0.55 mg/kg.

Weight of the patient = 110 lbs.

Convert lbs to kg for calculation

                1 lbs = 0.45 kg.

     So

Weight of the patient = 110/0.45

                                            = 49.89 kg.

                                            = 50 kg.

          Desired dose (D) for this patient = 0.55 * 50

                                                               = 27.5 mg.

                    Dose in hand (H) = 10 mg.

                       Quantity (Q) = 5 ml.

       As per formula

             Amount(ml) required = D/H *Q

                                               = 27.5/10 * 5

                                               = 2.75 * 5

                                               = 13.75

                                               = 14 ml.
