Health care providers like doctors, clinics, hospitals that conduct business electronically, entities process nonstandard health information received from another entity should make safeguard to protect patient health information and should not disclose any health information improperly it must have some reasonable limits to have disclosure, training program for employees to protect health information, business associate also have to follow safeguard to protect health information.
2, The health insurance portability and Accountability Act(HIPAA), privacy and security rules, explained how the individual at covered entities should collect, use and handle protected health information(PHI). security rules require physical and technical safeguards, proper administrative to ensure the confidentiality integrity and security of electronically protected health information. nurses can help improve the security and privacy of patient information, incidental disclosure clause of the privacy rule can protect the health information when the covered entities place reasonable safeguards and following policy and procedure to protect individual privacy. As a nurse can protect these rules by avoiding issues when speaking quietly when discussing patient information to a public area with colleagues, using privacy filters on device screens to protect health information, proper handling of paper hard copy documents, record rooms should be locked when not in use, proper disposing of records when it is not needed, use of privacy filters that increase productivity and avoid visual hacking. nurses are planning an important role in protecting patient health information. they should follow the security and privacy policies to help create confidentiality.
