Nutrition:
Nutrition is the dietary intake related to our body requirement.
Prevention of disease:
Nutrition can prevent chronic disease, promote physical activity, prevent obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and dental disease.
Etiology:
Nutrition support metabolic health. The imbalance between energy expenditure and high energy in the diet make obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease due to an unbalanced diet and low physical activity. Stomach condition and disorder and alcoholism also the cause for poor nutrition intake.
progression:
Nutrition deficiency causes many health problems for adults, infants, children, it lowers the mental function and increases the disease process. malnutrition happens due to low protein, vitamin, minerals, and essential fatty acids, insufficient protein, poverty, starvation, low calorie, poor hygiene cause marasmus, kwashiorkor for infants.
Treatment:
It includes the screening of disease at the hospital, recommended dietary intake with right calories, protein, fat, vitamin, minerals important for preventing malnutrition.
Recommended diet:
Dietary intake of fortified foods high protein and calories, plenty of fluids and vegetables, starchy foods, milk and dietary foods, fish, eggs, beans are a good source of nutrition.
Nursing assessment:
Identify the disorder due to malnutrition by screening, check height and weight, diet history, food allergy, cultural and religious beliefs, environmental factors, medical illness, and health history. calculate ideal body weight and BMI to find out obesity and malnutrition.
Nursing intervention:
Health professional responsibility to make people choose healthy choices. Advice people to take enough calories from carbohydrates, protein, fats, and dairy. education about food choices and disease prevention to healthy food choices and signs and symptoms of the disease can make people have awareness about nutrition.
client education:
People education about food group and its benefits and disadvantages of certain food groups. obesity, malnutrition, and chronic disease prevention by avoiding certain food groups. early screening and investigation to prevent further complications.
Adherence:
Nutrition counseling and rehabilitation programs can reduce mortality and improve adherence to therapy. nutrition orientation history and examination and support therapy can prevent chronic disease.
