Antidepressants are a class of drugs that help treat acute and chronic depressions, anxiety disorders and other depressive disorders

The time taken by antidepressants to show response is different for each class.

Some antidepressants may show response as early as 6 weeks and others may take 8 to 12 weeks.

But usually before switching to other antidepressant the physician should wait for 8 weeks or 2 months to achieve the desired response.
