Answer #1

Ans) EHR: Software with full range of functionalities to store, access, and use patient medical information.

Electronic health information (EHR) provides quick access to patient records for all care providers and enables better control and management of chronic illnesses, seeing successful results of treatments and wellness plans. When the information is in patients' hands more quickly, this motivates them to take control of their own health, and in some cases provide information to their physicians, again achieving better results for the patient.

Advantages:

* Safety
* Quality of Care
* Efficiency
* Cost Reduction

Patient safety, problems with legibility (medical errors), multiple providers=multiple paper systems (over prescription meds, better to all document on same system (quality care), faster info (decreases staff/cost effective), patients want to see their lab results via comp., easier to read, less time to locate, decrease duplication of info., help streamline billing processes, reduces paper, reduce errors in billing, tracking staff productivity, identifying patient referral patterns, marketing management, quality management.

Disadvantages:

* High cost in time and money for hardware, software, training;

* Backup systems, templates used limit info that is enterd into record.

* Staff anxious in using, paid training, tech support 24/7.
