Assessment forms the basis of any care it includes the mental and social status of the person.

The areas which cause the most discomfort zone in the assessment part of a psychosocial history are if a patient has violent behaviour,depressed ,substance abuse,sexual abuse,alcohol use,smoking,tobacco,any psychiatric medication or on treatment, patient stress,anger,aggressive behaviour etc.m

Some of the approach to be made to make a comfortable approach in the portion of history taking are

• Listen to the patient
• Do not interrupt the patient while talking
• Maintain a safe distance in case if the patient has violent behaviour
• Maintain a professional eye contact
• First make the patient to come out with social problems and things which they face difficulty which affects their emotion and disturbs their social activities
• Provide suggestions after a confidence is induced in the patient
• Do not over react to payients emotion but be empathetic,thus character makes the professionals to think from the angle of a patient problem
