Nurses have a responsibility to report any immoral professional behavior. They should notify staff leaders about healthcare professionals who engage in illegal activities, demonstrate incompetence or work while impaired. In addition, nurses must intervene when they come in contact with a patient who is a victim of child, elder, sexual or domestic abuse.
