Take a position on whether the facility holds any accountability for Nancy’s pregnancy in this case. Provide a rationale for your position.
Solution: As leaders in this nursing home, there should have been some rules and regulations as far as how the residents can interact with each other. In the case study, it shows no mentioned on how the residents should or if the know if they could interact with each other on a personal level. Furthermore, Nancy has AIDS and sleeping with Joseph could potential affect him as well, and the nursing home staff couldn't make Joseph aware of this or it would have been a violation of her rights. I do believe that some facility should hold accountability for Nancy’s pregnancy. There should be staff in place that can monitor the interacting of patients at all times.
Summarize the lesson(s) this facility’s administrator and staff should learn from this case. Next, suggest one (1) change to this facility’s human resources policies in order to increase the efficiency of staff monitoring of residents. Provide a rationale for your suggestion.
Solution: The lesson that the nursing facility should learn this case is they need to focus on patient safety. In the nursing home patient safety can be mental, emotional, physically, and health. One change to this facility’s human resources policies in order to increase the efficiency of staff monitoring of residents is to add a policy and agreement regulation that confits the residents who desire sexual relationship with each other.
