Do you see some inconsistencies based on the discussion of cultural differences and your own practical experience? Do you see any of these cultural differences as you interact with individuals from other societies?
The core discussion on cultural differences arise due to the change in belief, ethnicity, race or behaviour of an individual and this is what most discussions around the concept of cultural differences are based around.
Over the years, cultural differences have been presented to the world as things which set people apart from one another and make them different. This however in my opinion has been a cause for bias which is now changing due to modernization of societies and rapid development across the globe.
Cultural differences, previously were seen as a key reason why some people were different from us, and how they were expected to behave in the society and act as strangers. All discussion even today till date points out to the dis similarities and treats it to be a negative aspect which hampers normal human interaction with one another.
In real life however, since we happen to live in a relatively modern world, where education is available and equal opportunity is given in employment to everyone, I feel that cultural differences make us unique and not different.
This is what the current change is. Even though there are differences among societies and people, yet education and the abolishment of superstition has come a long way at making all of us feel like one.
When we tend to interact with one another now, we are more liberal in our approach towards other people than we ever were. Cultural differences are no longer a barrier in interaction between me and people and I only consider this to be a fact that sets people apart from one another.
Different ideologies bring with it more to any table of discussion. Big companies like Apple and Microsoft for an example therefore appreciate the fact that such differences are present rather than discriminate on the same and this allows for new ideas to stem and better work to flow across organizations and personal relationships.
We can conclude by saying that the concept of cultural differences has evolved over a period of time. The discussion around this topic has often been restricted to how people are different from one another however the current evolution has given people the feeling that differences should be enabling people rather than crippling them and making them feel inferior or superior to one another.
