Answer #1

ANSWER.

Q.5. Calculation of amount of Demerol should be given.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

   Here

     Desired dose(D) = 30 mg.

     Dose in hand(H) = 50 mg.

          Quantity(Q) = 1ml.

As per above formula

    Amount(ml) of drug should be given = D/H *Q

                                                              = 30/50 *1

                                                              = 0.6 * 1

                                                              = 0.6 ml.

Q.6.Calculation of amount of drug required.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

        Here

           Desired dose = 375 mg.

           Dose in hand(H) = 750 mg.

                 Quantity(Q) = 10 ml.

As per formula

   Amount(ml) of drug required = 375/750 * 10

                                                  = 0.5 * 10

                                                  = 5 ml.

Q.7. Calculation of amount(ml) of Ibuprofen required.

Formula = Desired dose /Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

          Desired dose = 50 mg.

Dose in hand = 100 mg.

               Quantity = 1 teaspoon (5 ml).

   As per formula

     Amount of drug required = D/H * Q

                                            = 50/100 * 5

                                            = 0.5 * 5

                                            = 2.5 ml.

Q.8. Calculation of rate(ml/hr) of infusion.

             Flow rate(ml/hr) = Volume(ml) / Time (hr)

       Volume(ml) of drug required.

Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

          Desired dose = 1.2 unit.

Dose in hand = 50 unit.

              Quantity = 100 ml.

     As per formula

       Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                    = 1.2/50 * 100

                                                    = 0.024 * 100

                                                    = 2.4 ml.

     Flow rate(ml/hr) = 2.4 / 1

                               = 2.4 ml/hr.
