Hire from within, or open a position for outside applicants? This is a question many managers face when hiring for a position.

Assume the role of a health care manager in your “dream job.” You are hiring for an open position on your team, and need to decide whether to open the position to internal applicants only, or to outside applicants as well.

  • Briefly describe the open position.
  • State your decision (internal only or internal and external).
  • Provide rationale for your decision – include at least one reference that aligns with your decision.

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
