• Home health (community based nursing):

- Acute, chronic, and palliative care of individuals and their families that increase autonomy capacity.
- Providing direct care (eg: stroke patients), supportive care to improve quality of life.
- Focuses on the problem and addresses client needs for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
- More personal with more specific knowledge regarding that specific community.


• Community mental health nursing:

- Community mental health nurses practice in a range of behavioral health care settings, including community mental health centers, detoxification centers, group homes for individuals with mental retardation or serious mental illnesses, and residential substance abuse treatment programs.

• Variety of other specialties like street health and parish nursing
