CPGs and EBP important to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and their patients:

- EBP is important to healthcare because it aims to provide the most effective care that is available, with the aim of improving patient outcomes. Patients expect to receive the most effective care based on the best available evidence, reduces cost & enhances quality care.

- CPG is important as it has potential to improve both the quality or process of care and patient outcomes. Increasingly, clinicians and clinical managers must choose from numerous, sometimes differing, and occasionally contradictory, guidelines.
