Teach patients that glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness for older adults due to high intraocular pressure which damages the optic nerve.
Changes patient can expect:
Advice to see the doctor if there is blurred vision, eye pain, redness, and severe headache.
Eye drops treatment:
advice patients to take eye drops regularly to prevent loss of vision.
2, Patient with glaucoma need lifelong treatment and follow-up care to recover from vision changes and preserve vision. There are various topical changes available to prevent blindness. poor adherence to medication can worsen the disease and increase the health care cost when patient with asymptomatic that time people will not adherence to medicine much. this can worsen their disease process more. Advice patient to adherence with treatment. Patients with older age have memory issues. That is the main cause for patient non-adherence to treatment. Advice patient that may worsen patient vision cause blindness and increase IOP. Proper followup can improve patient vision with glaucoma with success. Advice the patient to have an alarm signal and calendar mark next to the eye drops to avoid missing drops.
