What do you think OUR role (as nurses) is in global health? Isn’t this a problem for governments?
Ans) Global health is the health of populations in the global context; it has been defined as "the area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide".
The Global Health Nursing Fellowship (GHNF) is designed for nursing professionals looking to gain experience in international medicine and global health. The fellowship takes a multi-faceted approach to understanding healthcare in the developing world.
Role of Nurses:
1) Expanding Role for Nurses with New Global Health Challenges.
2) Coordinating Efforts and Increasing Interprofessional Cooperation
3) Meeting the Demand for Global Health Education
Nurses advocate for health promotion, educate patients and the public on the prevention of illness and injury, provide care and assist in cure, participate in rehabilitation, and provide support. No other health care professional has such a broad and far-reaching role.
As it is global health, benefiting the global needs, it won't be a problem for governments. But there should be some policies to the role of nurses in global health.
