Answer #1

1)calculation for drops/minute:

Total volume of the fluid = 2000ml

Total time = 24 hours

Drop factor = 15 drops /ml

Drops /minute = Total volume × drop factor ÷ time in hour

= 2000×15 ÷ 24×60

= 30000÷1440

= 20.83

= 21drops /minute

2) calculation for ml/minute:

ML of fluid to be administered = 132 × body weight per

24 hours

= 132 × 11.3 /24

=1491.6 /24

= 62 ml /hr

3) Fluid loss in kg : body weight × percentage of dehydration /100

= 20 × 5 /100

= 1kg

There for fluid loss in ml :

1 kg = 1 litter

1 kg = 1000ml
