The nurse should immediately suspect a blood clot. The low oxygen saturation (normal: > 95%), higher rate of respiration, anxiety and chest pain suggest that the patient had hypoxia.

The patient must be positioned in semi-fowlers posture and immediate oxygen administration through nasal cannula should be provided. Medications for pain and anxiety, and fluids are to be provided to relax the patient. Then the nurse should inform the doctor about the symptoms.
