The two following changes are likely to occur in the next several years in the healthcare environment:

• Increased demand for healthcare services
• Reduced availability of skilled and experienced healthcare individuals

The trend of increasing retirements of babyboomer generation and lack of competent new talent: Not only in the healthcare organizations but several industries are facing the problem of lacking skilled young employees to replace the retired employees. Retaining the experienced output provided by senior workers by employing the same number of new staff is a major challenge that affects the healthcare industry. Also, it is important for health care professionals to update their skills regarding the newer technologies to sustain in their respective jobs. On the other and, new diseases are emerging along with an increase in the lifetime of the individuals, which also increase the demand for healthcare services.

Effect of changes in health care on patients:

Health technology development in recent years not only fastened the services provided and also improved the patient comfort and quality of the health services. For example, saving the data in the form of digital files allows to save a huge amount of data and also to track the data immediately whenever necessary without delay, which is very advantageous in case of emergency conditions. The recent increased biomedical research is also helping in discovering new drugs for the effective treatment of certain life-threatening diseases such as cancer.

Despite these advantages, some of the disadvantages like identity theft, unauthorized access to patient information, etc. are also possible. But we cannot oppose the process of health technology development due to their advantages, but more safety measures to avoid the misuse must be developed simultaneously.
