BETA BLOCKERS:

Indications;

Increased blood pressureangina pectoris,atrial fibrillation,cardiac arrhythmia,congestive heart failure,glaucoma,myocardial infartcion.thyrotoxicosis,hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy,migraine.

withdrawal:

Abrupt withdrawal of betablockers can lead to rebound effect characterised b tachycardia an dhypertension.patints with ischemic heart disease may have exacerbation of angina or acute ischemic events.

precautions;

people should talk to doctor before taking drug if they have following problems:

  • asthma
  • broncjospasm
  • severe peripheral arterial disease including Raynaud's syndrome
  • slowheart rate
  • uncontrolled heart failure

effects:

heart:decreases heart rrate,force of contraction and cardiac otput.

blobodvessels:blocks vasodilation

respiratory tract:increases bronchial resistanceby blocking dilator b2 receptors.

metabolic effecrts:blocks adrenergically inducd ipolysisand consequent increasevin plasma free fatty acids.

skeletal muscle;:ingibits adrenergcally provoked tremor.

eye:reduce secretions of aqu ous humour
