Reason:BMR basal metabolic rate is the total energy in calories that an individual requires at rest it is directly proportional to the body mass,height,weight and inversely proportion to age so BMR increases with an increase in body mass it decreases as age increases it is dependent on the height,stress hormones affect the BMR .in children the body movement is more and the BMR is very high because of their activity level.in pregnancy the body mass increases in second and third trimester which leads to higher BMR and higher calorie requirements.
