The role of a nurse in ensuring continuity of care and maintaining safety fir the patient are

  • Work as and in a team and interpret the care delivered to the patient in the interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
  • Advocate in place of the patient to the concerned health care providers
  • Clarify the doubts of patient
  • Treat the patient in empathetic way rather than in a sympathetic way this can comfort the patient and improve a good quality continuity of care
  • Nurses,especially correctional nurse should coordinate the care and make sure all patients needs are met and treated
  • Remove the patient from any dangerous items, gases, prevent exposure in case of any radiation exposed patients from other patient
  • Isolate infectious patient from being exposed to other patients
  • Follow strict hand hygiene
  • Do not encourage or allow to use any sharps ,instruments where a patient is aggressive due to the disaster episode
