how does mannerism and customs as well as the social structures and organizations of the Mexican culture compare to the us culture and business aspect
The mannerism and customs for greeting people in Mexico and U.S. are quite different. In Mexico, people must greet individually to everyone in a social event like a celebration or a party. They would either kiss on the cheek if they know each other or shake hands, as a physical contact is must. If any person doesn’t greet individually or say goodbye individually, then it is categorised to be bad mannerism. However American greetings are fairly spontaneous and casual at social events. They might shake hands with few people when there is a formal situation, or in an informal situation Americans just say something hello and leave it at that.
In the Mexican culture the family is very important and includes uncles, aunts, grand-parents, cousins, and second cousins. But Americans focuses are on only the children and parents as they rely only on the immediate nuclear family. Also the teenagers in U.S. have more independence and freedom compared to their Mexican counterparts. The families in Mexico tend to be very protective for teenage children when it comes to the social events and parties.
Another culture and business aspect which is different among the two is punctuality and time. In American culture the punctuality is a vital expectation not only for business aspect but for social events as well, and generally the late arrival would be frowned upon. This perception of punctuality is different in Mexico wherein the late arrival than the time indicated is often okay with and everyone.
