A group cells are termed to be tissues.Tissues are classified into four types namely

  • Epithelial tissue
    • It is the lining of the surface of th body and the organs which have cavity
    • They function mainly by protecting the body from invasion of any foreign bodies
    • This tissue can be classified into different tissues (simple squamous, stratified squamous,transitional,cuboidal,columnar, columnar, glandular)
    • E.g.,Surface of the skin,internal lining present in the gastrointestinal system
  • Connective tissue
    • It establishes a connection between each organs.It is a formof fibrous tissue which has an extracellular matrix
    • It functions by supporting and holding the internal structure in place
    • E.g.,Bone,Tendon,Fat tissues,blood,ligament,adipose
  • Muscle tissue
    • The skeletal muscles surrounds the skeletal system ,cardiac tissue in the heart and the smootht issue in the internal organs.It can be voluntary or involuntary in action.
    • It functions by helping in the movement of the body
    • eg.,Skeletal, smooth,cardiac muscle
  • Nervous tissue
    • These tissues conveys passage of message throughout the body
    • It is mainly composed of neural tissues (central nervous system and peripheral nervous system )
    • eg.,Brain, spinal cord
