Neoplasms are abnormal growth and proliferation of a cell mass or tissue of the body which eventually develops cancer properties. They're commonly known as tumor. They are generally mass of tissues produced by uncontrolled cell division.

Depending upon their tissue of origin, Neoplasms can be classified into the following types:

1) Epithelial glandular. Example is thyroid follicular adenoma

2) Squamous and transitional. Example is Squamous papiloma of skin

3) Connective tissue. Example is Osteosarcoma

4) Hematopoietic & Lymphoreticular. Example is Mylocytic leukaemia

5) Neural tissue. Example is Neurofibrosarcoma

6) Mixed tissues of all of the above. Example is ovarian teratoma.
