The four major type of tissues found in the animal are:

I. Epithelial: this tissue is found on the surface of the body and lining of internal body cavity. The function of this tissue is to provide the protection to the body and internal organ from any external shock. This tissue is also involved in the absorption, secretion and filteration.

II.Connective: this tissue is found in bone, cartilage, blood, lymph, loose connective tissue, dense fibrous tissue. The function include support and protection to the body, provide movement of the body, transport of oxygen and other useful substance to all parts of the body.

III. Muscular tissue: this tissue is found in the muscles. Three main type of muscular tissue are skeletal muscles that cover entire skeleton, smooth muscle cover the internal organ and cardiac muscle that cover the heart. Their function is to provide protection and movement

IV. Nervous tissue: this tissue contain specialized cells whose function is to conduct impulses to and from all parts of the body . They are found in brain and spinal cord.
