Positive lessons that can be learned about social illness prevention include the fact that upstream processes such as social illness prevention reduce the disease burden of diseases in a country especially in case of the chronic diseases that are influenced by the lifestyle of people such as substance abuse for example drinking alcohol, and smoking which may lead to diseases such as; high blood pressure, gastric problems, cirrhosis of the liver, cancer of the liver, pancreatitis, memory impairment etc. The positive lessons that can be learned about the development of health policy are the fact that health policy that they may increase the insurance coverage of the target population such as the ACA, which increases the access to healthcare. The drawbacks that can be learned about the development of health policy that they may at times be not cost-effective and they may cause a delay. Individual lifestyle programs relating to personal choices are very helpful as they educate a person in healthcare and make him or her more responsible in taking care of their health and thus reducing the disease burden of a country.
