Can someone help me with the nursing interventions ( pre, intra,post) for cardiac cauterization especially for a pediatric patient. Also interpretation of findings for cardiac catherization. Cardiac catheterization :

Cardiac catherization it is an proceedure is used to treat the cardio vascular conditions, in these procedure catheter is inserted through the artery or vein from groin region to the heart, to diagnose any cardiac problems.

Nursing interventions :

Pre operatively :

* Explain procedure to the parents.

* Nurse should take consent form from the child parent.

* keep Nil per mouth, before 6 to 8 hours.

* ask history regarding any medications are using like aspirin and NSAIDS ect.

* ask Empty the bladder before going to do procedure.

* pre procedural teaching should be provide.

* lab investigations like EKG, Echo cardiogram, complete blood picture should be done and all reports should be collected.

Intra operative interventions :

* Provide comfortable position.

* assist to the procedure.

* maintain the persons blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels by admistering oxygen.

Post operative interventions :

* Monitor vital signs.

* keep leg immobilized.

* check for bleeding at insertion site.

* Monitor extremely distal to the catheter insertion.

* maintain Intake and output chart.

Potential complications of cardiac catheterization :.

* Myocardial infarction,

* cardiac Embolism

* Hematoma

* Retro peritoneal hematoma.

Nursing interventions for pediatric patients of cardiac catheterization :

* X ray should be taken for the patient at the placement of catherization side.

* maintain vital signs normally.

* maintain intake and out put chart.

* Observe for bleeding and bruising.

* administer medication according to the time.
